Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control seeks an ASIC & FPGA Engineer to own end-to-end FPGA development and coordinate a multidisciplinary team of engineers. You will translate system requirements into high‑performance hardware while managing risk and communicating progress to leadership.

You will conduct FPGA trade studies, collaborate across software, hardware and systems teams, and verify datalink communications through simulation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; equivalent experience accepted.
  • Proven experience leading FPGA design teams or managing FPGA development projects.
  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog).
  • Experience with embedded System‑on‑Chip integration and hardware validation.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end development of FPGA solutions and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop trade studies to optimize FPGA choice for utilization, power, and thermal.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems engineering to define architectures and FPGA requirements.
  • Contribute to Design Architecture development process across the team.
  • Perform datalink/communication verification through simulation.

You will be the ASIC & FPGA Engineer for the Hardware Engineering team at Lockheed Martin Missilesand Fire Control (MFC).Our team delivers precision engagement aerospace and defense systems, designing, building and fielding the electrical hardware that powers missiles, sensors and other mission critical subsystems for the UnitedStates and allied militaries.

You will be the ASIC & FPGA Engineer for the Hardware Engineering team at Lockheed Martin Missilesand Fire Control (MFC).Our team delivers precision engagement aerospace and defense systems, designing, building and fielding the electrical hardware that powers missiles, sensors and other mission critical subsystems for the UnitedStates and allied militaries.

What You Will Be Doing

As the ASIC & FPGA Engineer you will own the end to end development of FPGA solutions and coordinate a multidisciplinary group of systems engineers, software developers, and hardware integrators. You’ll translate system requirements into reliable, high performance hardware while keeping technical risk in check and communicating progress to senior leadership and customers. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop complex FPGA designs, including specification, design, verification, and implementation
  • Develop trade studies to select an FPGA solution optimized for device utilization, power and thermal requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and systems engineering to develop an optimal architecture and develop FPGA requirements
  • Collaborate with the team through the Design Architecture development process
  • Datalink and communication verification through simulation

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance. A company-sponsored active clearance is required to start.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Proven experience leading FPGA design teams or managing FPGA development projects.
  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog).
  • Experience with embedded System‑on‑Chip integration and hardware validation.
  • Exposure to video and signal‑processing implementations.
  • Experience with FPGA simulation, test bench development, scripting, and design verification
Desired Skills
  • Experience managing configuration control, preferably using GitLab.
  • Hands‑on experience with AMD/Xilinx tools and devices, including Versal and UltraScale+ families.
  • Expertise in High‑Level Synthesis and proficiency with Vivado/Vitis design environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for board‑level testing and FPGA validation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the ASIC/FPGA lifecycle: architecture, design, simulation, verification, integration, and test.
  • Experience with RF Datalink waveforms design, simulation and verification.
  • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional engineering and program management teams in an Agile or iterative development environment.
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $148300.00 - $275500.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
