Description

The Director of Curricular Coordination and Support in the Postprofessional Doctor of Physical Therapy Program supervises the implementation of the curriculum, manages student recruitment and retention, oversees operations, and supports the Physical Therapy Department's strategic initiatives. The position requires a dedicated and innovative individual to lead and manage all aspects of the academic unit, including faculty, staff, students, the program budget, and daily operations. This position works collaboratively with the Department Chair, other directors, and administrative staff to develop and implement strategic plans and efficient operations for the program, represent the department in the community, and engage in school- and university-wide leadership activities. This is a full-time position with salary and benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  1. In collaboration with the Instructional Designer and PT content experts, oversee curriculum development and delivery to ensure quality learning experiences for students
  2. In collaboration with the Instructional Designer, support consistent course design, curricular updates, effective assessment of student learning and course assessment, including teaching orientation course modules for students and for faculty
  3. Responsible for overseeing program curriculum and operations to ensure implementation of strategic plans and attainment of projected outcomes
  4. Coordination and management of the daily operations of the program
  5. Direct and indirect supervisory responsibility for program faculty and staff, including recruiting, hiring/terminating personnel, adjunct faculty scheduling, delegation of duties to administrative assistant (personnel allocation), conducting personnel evaluations, and faculty/staff development activities
  6. Oversee and support program marketing, including attending recruitment events and coordinating marketing outreach
  7. Oversee the development of university partnerships, including BSPT and MPT programs and FACTS.
  8. Oversee the program's graduation events, including graduation meeting/luncheon and faculty development.
  9. Recruiting, guiding, and advising students enrolled in the online postprofessional DPT program, including conducting and analyzing student/graduate exit interviews and surveys
  10. Overseeing the admissions process for the program, tracking applications, and supporting admissions review and academic degree plans.
  11. Identification, justification, and allocation of resources and budgetary needs (budget development and monitoring)
  12. Ensuring programmatic compliance with university accreditation standards, assisting with accreditation reporting and compliance documentation
  13. Ensuring programmatic compliance with institutional policies and procedures
  14. Collaborating with administration and other university departments/programs/service areas
  15. Participate in departmental, school, and university service and leadership through committees and events.

Provides programmatic oversight of the online Postprofessional DPT Program.

Job responsibilities and services also include the following:

  1. Ensure operational efficiency and promote a strong academic reputation
  2. In collaboration with the Instructional Designer and PT content experts, programmatic and curricular leadership and oversight, including overseeing the curriculum development, currency of course content, and ongoing improvement in course design and implementation
  3. Ensuring quality learning experiences for students and ensuring appropriate assessment of student performance
  4. Collaboration with support divisions across the university to optimize student recruitment and admissions (e.g., conference exhibit booths for recruitment, virtual open houses, program marketing, follow-up with leads, and application reviews)
  5. Responsible for conflict management and disciplinary actions for faculty, staff, and students within the program
  6. Facilitating faculty development activities related to the program.
  7. Oversight of programmatic and departmental documents and literature (e.g., accreditation and education effectiveness/annual reports, program handbooks, program curriculum guides, catalog sections pertaining to the program, program website pages, program brochures and flyers)
  8. Participation in and support of university events (e.g., graduation ceremony and luncheon, community relations and events)
  9. Leadership and participation in events, such as programmatic orientations
  10. Service to the university and the school through committees and task force participation as a program director
  11. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein, as delegated by the Chair.

Requirements

  • Master's or doctoral degree in teaching/education or physical therapy or other related field
  • Specific Knowledge Areas: Curriculum planning and assessment; Recruitment and marketing strategies; Budget planning, tracking and reporting; Professional communication/interpersonal skills and conflict management; Strong skills in learning theories, adult learning principles, instructional technology (LMS, authoring tools, multimedia); Leadership; and Project management and program assessment
  • 3–5 years of experience in a university or academic setting required. Experience with program coordination, recruitment, marketing, and faculty/staff and student support.
  • Organizational and project management skills.
  • Budget tracking and fiscal responsibility.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of university policies and academic operations.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and external organizations.
  • Proficiency with office software, course management, and social media platforms.
  • Professional communication and approachable demeanor
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
