Purpose: The Oklahoma Baptist University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program invites applications for a pool of adjunct faculty to support our accelerated hybrid DPT curriculum. Adjunct faculty primarily teach onsite with required travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma, for laboratory immersions, practical examinations, simulations, and other program activities. This position is ideal for practicing clinicians who wish to maintain clinical practice while contributing to the education and professional formation of future physical therapists. Adjunct faculty members are essential to ensuring program quality, student success, and compliance with accreditation standards established by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Primary Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction
  • Teach assigned courses across the DPT curriculum, including didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical components.
  • Utilize evidence-informed and student-centered teaching methodologies.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Participate in curriculum design, development, and revision.
  • Develop and annually review course syllabi, update as appropriate.
  • Develop course materials with integration of online resources.
  • Request necessary course equipment, materials, and/or supplies.
  • Supervise and coordinate course adjuncts.
  • Complete and return final grades within program deadlines.
  • Participate in course assessment and evaluation.
  • Update course content, teaching methods, and materials as needed.
  • Seek annual training for online instructional teaching methods.
  • Participate in advising program.
  • Maintain regular virtual office hours.
Scholarship
  • Engage in a sustained agenda of scholarly activity consistent with CAPTE expectations.
  • Disseminate scholarship through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or other scholarly products.
  • Mentor students in research, capstone, or scholarly projects.
Service
  • Participate in program, college, and university committees.
  • Contribute to professional service at the local, state, or national level.
  • Support program initiatives such as admissions, recruitment, and community engagement.
Assessment and Program Improvement
  • Participate in systematic program assessment, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Contribute to accreditation compliance and self-study processes.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement activities aligned with program outcomes.
Student Advising and Mentorship
  • Advise and mentor students in academic, professional, and career development.
  • Support student success, professionalism, and ethical development.
Faith Integration
  • Integrate faith and learning consistent with the mission of OBU.

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree.
  • Current unrestricted PT license.
  • Minimum one year of contemporary applicable clinical practice, expertise in assigned content area.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to travel for assigned laboratory immersions.
  • Commitment to student success and collaborative teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ABPTS Board Certification (OCS, NCS, SCS, GCS, PCS, WCS, CCS, ECS) or other specialty certification.
  • Residency and/or Fellowship training.
  • Prior teaching experience in DPT education.
  • Experience in hybrid or online graduate education.
  • Expertise in simulation and clinical reasoning.

Reporting Structure
  • Reports to the Program Director of the DPT Program.
Setting and Special Requirements:
  • Primarily Remote with Required Travel for On-Campus Lab Immersions.
  • Must be a member of a local evangelical* Christian church.*Evangelical is a broad term referring to segment within Christianity which maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
