Job summary

Priority Waste Resources LLC is seeking a Heavy Duty Machinery Master Mechanic in Hamtramck, MI. The role involves repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Start rate ranges from $40 to $50 per hour.

Responsibilities include vehicle upkeep, engine repair, welding, diagnostics, DOT readiness, routine maintenance, and safe road service. Two years in heavy-duty tech is preferred, CDL a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician.
• CDL is a plus but not required.
• ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
• Experience with maintenance on refuse trucks and heavy machinery.
• Basic inspections of brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, engine, steering and suspension.

Job Purpose

In your role as a Heavy Duty Machinery Master Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery including but not limited to: vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components. This role starts between $40-$50/hr.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment


• Performs engine repair and maintenance


• Performs welding and fabrication


• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools


• Performs electrical repairs


• Assists with DOT inspections


• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment


• Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary


• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime


• Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner


• Troubleshoots emissions issues


• Actively problem solves


• Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records

Qualifications

• Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required


• Understands work orders and labor time standards


• Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery


• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications are a plus but not required


• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician


• Must be able to perform basic inspections of the following: brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, emissions, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension
