Job summary

Priority Waste Resources LLC in Detroit, MI seeks a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic to repair and maintain refuse vehicles and heavy machinery. You will service vehicle systems including brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and HVAC components, with emphasis on reliability and safety.

Responsibilities include diagnosing issues with electronic tools, performing routine maintenance, welding, and assisting with DOT inspections while turning work orders into the Maintenance Supervisor for records.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician.
• Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery.
• Must be able to perform basic inspections: brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension.
• Must be able to work afternoon shift.
• ASE Certifications are a plus but not required.
• Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs engine repair and maintenance.
• Performs welding and fabrication.
• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools.
• Performs electrical repairs.
• Assists with DOT inspections.
• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment.
• Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary.
• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime.
• Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner.
• Troubleshoots emissions issues.
• Actively problem solves.
• Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records.

Job Purpose

In your role as a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery including, but not limited to: vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components.
