Job summary

Republic Services in Jackson, TN is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, diesel and gasoline vehicles, and related systems. You will diagnose mechanical issues, document work orders, and ensure safe, productive operations across fleets.

Qualifications

• ASE certification evidenced advanced knowledge in air brakes, tires, hydraulics, electrical, drive train and suspension.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a technician on heavy equipment.
• Trade school certification or degree in mechanical field and electrical diagnostics.
• Applicable ASE certifications and Tier 4 emission systems knowledge.
• Welding or fabrication skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment and vehicles to maximize safe operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes and electrical systems.
• Read repair orders, discuss defects with operators, and document time and parts usage.
• Maintain fleet records in Dossier or equivalent maintenance software.
• Collect and interpret oil analyses and fleet data to plan maintenance.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures on site.
• Overhaul gas or diesel engines as required.
