Job summary

Brainerd Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a Self-Contained ASD classroom at Garfield Elementary. The role covers the 2026-2027 school year with 184 duty days, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

Current Minnesota teaching license in Special Education in the indicated area.
Experience teaching in special education settings.
Experience with due process procedures including conducting evaluations, writing IEPs, monitoring progress, and facilitating meetings.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and conduct Part B evaluations.
Participate in multidisciplinary team assessments and development of IEP goals/outcomes.
Educate parents and others regarding provision of services.
Provide research-based specialized instruction as outlined in the IEP.
Consult with parents and service providers to ensure effective service provision.
Prepare a schedule of individualized and small group activities for instruction.
Supervise and provide direction for classroom staff.
Maintain classroom and behavior management and document progress.
