Job summary

Kentwood Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional in the Special Education ASD program at Brookwood Elementary School. Under supervision, you will support students with individualized instruction and assist with classroom tasks and behavior management.

The role involves non-instructional duties, CPI-trained staff, and collaboration with teachers to implement IEP goals. Schedule is 7 hours per day, 5 days a week, 38 weeks per year, with travel between sites possible.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an institution of higher learning (60 credits) or an associate degree or higher.
• Knowledge and training in CPI and classroom management may be required.
• Willingness to participate in professional development as identified by the principal or district.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning and social development.
• Assist staff with classroom assignments and assessments.
• Prepare materials and differentiate instruction for individual needs.
• Support in non-instructional tasks (lunch, bus duty, supervision).
• Assist with Personal Care Services (PCS) and other student support tasks as needed.
• Attend field trips and participate in IEP-related activities.
• Maintain safety and classroom order; support district CPI training.
