Job summary

West Bloomfield School District seeks a Special Education Paraeducator for the Program for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The role supports students with special needs, maintains confidentiality, and collaborates with a diverse educational team to implement behavioral and living skills programs.

The position offers a 6.75-hour day schedule. Starting salary is described as per the Paraeducator contract, with CPI training required and ongoing annual certification.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of students with special needs.
• High initiative and energy with ability to adapt quickly.
• Proficiency with computers, Word, Excel and the Internet.

Responsibilities

• Meet physical demands of the job (running, kneeling, floor work, lifting).
• Work with students individually or in groups in various environments (lunchroom, hallway, playground, classroom, community).
• Assist in implementing behavior/medical plans and observe/record behavior data.
• Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals with different teaching styles.
• Modify and adjust assignments to fit individual functioning levels and interpret IEP goals/objectives.
• Assist and participate in teaching basic living skills including toileting and feeding.
• Maintain student confidentiality.
• Attend CPI training and maintain annual certification.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
