Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Self-Contained ASD Paraprofessional to join Farrand Elementary School in Plymouth. The role involves assisting in a center-based classroom for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, implementing instructional programs, supporting behavior and health plans, and supervising students during daily activities.

Hours are 37.5 per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. The position reports to the Building Administrator and offers a starting pay of $21.13 per hour under

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with parents, students and support personnel.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Ability to engage in problem identification and solving.
  • Ability to maintain good rapport with staff/parents/students.
  • Previous experience as a one-on-one paraprofessional preferred.
  • Experience working with children with health impairments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works in collaboration with general and special education staff to support the ASD classroom students or individual students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Functions under the guidance of special education teacher, and supports students' accommodations and modifications per their IEPs.
  • Supports students with specific plans developed by the special education professional team.
  • Assists the special education classroom teacher and support personnel in the implementation of health care, behavior, and instructional programming.
  • Manages behavioral and instructional logs; maintains and implements data collection systems.
  • Supports established goals and objectives for students.
  • Operates equipment used in the program for production of printed or audio-visual materials when applicable.
  • Supervise students in the lunchroom, halls, and outside as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Provides support in behavior, medical, daily living and functional skills (toileting).
  • Supervisory aide hours/responsibility is part of this position.
  • Bending, lifting, and overhead work required.
  • Provides clinic/first aid/medication support to students.
  • May be assigned other tasks within special education classifications at building principal's discretion.

LOCATION: Farrand Elementary School

HOURS: 37.5 hours weekly

Monday - Friday

JOB GOAL

Provide support within a center-based classroom for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including implementation of instructional program, assisted technology, physical needs, behavior management, toileting, and supervision duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with parents, students and support personnel.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Ability to engage in problem identification and solving.
  • Ability to maintain good rapport with staff/parents/students.

  • May be assigned other tasks and duties within the special education classifications at the discretion of the building principal based on daily needs.
  • Assists and performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
