Applitrack is seeking a dedicated classroom assistant at Edison Max SEI (High-Needs School) in Edison, NJ. The role supports students under the supervision of teachers and specialists, following individualized behavioral plans and maintaining confidentiality of all school-related information.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, Work Keys or college coursework, and CPI training or willingness to obtain it. The position runs 5 days a week, 7:45-3:15, within the HPPA salary framework.

Qualifications

  • Good attendance record expected.

  • Ability to handle challenging behaviors with poise and professionalism.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to work with ASD students and implement individualized behavioral plans.
  • Flexible and able to take on varied assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Pass Work Keys, or have 2 years of college
  • Shall have at least a high school diploma
  • Ability to follow an individualized Behavioral Plan, under the teacher/ psychologist direction.
  • Good attendance record is expected
  • Certified in the C.P.I. training and the ability to implement all stages of the training, including the restraint portion of Crisis Prevention, OR, willingness to take the training and implement procedures
  • Work under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher
  • Ability to communicate with teachers, pupils, parents, and the public in a professional, friendly manner
  • Ability and willingness to deal with challenging behaviors under the direction of the teacher with poise and professionalism
  • Maintain confidentiality of work related information
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of students with ASD, implementing individualized behavioral plans
  • Ability to be flexible and take on a variety of assignments within the classroom and the building
  • Ability to understand that each student may work under an individualized plan which matches their learning level, which includes significant cognitive impairments along with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Knowledge of Autism and experience and/or training in working with students with ASD is preferred.
DUTIES
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all students, staff, and administrative correspondence
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a prompt and professional manner
  • In the absence of immediate administration direction, act in the best interests of the students and the school district. Deal with teachers, pupils, parents, and the public with friendliness, tact, and poise.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as may be directed by the program administrator or other assigned professional staff members.
