Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant (1:1) for the 2026-2027 program at Marcy Elementary. This paraprofessional will support students with disabilities, implement individualized lessons, and assist staff with behavior and data documentation.

The role requires 90 quarter/60 semester credits, ParaPro score of 460 or higher, and 2 years of related experience. First Aid/CPR/AED and CPI training within one year are required; position involves on-site work and physical

Qualifications

• Completion of 90 quarter/60 semester college credits or higher.
• A passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessessment and either a high school diploma or a GED.
• Two years of experience working with children. Related experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to students with disabilities and assist staff to implement individualization lessons.
• Assist students in learning through positive behavior reinforcement and instruction.
• Monitor activities, de-escalate conflicts, and document observations for IEPs and FBA.
• Assist with daily routines including meals, transportation, and classroom transitions.
• Support hygiene, health-related cares, and community activities as directed.
