Overview

The Iowa Clinic has an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team at our new ambulatory surgery center. Conveniently located near I-80 in Waukee, this state-of-the-art, 21,000 sq. ft. ASC offers same-day joint replacement, orthopedic, sports medicine, foot and ankle, plastics, pain management surgery and a cardiac catheterization lab in an out-patient setting. Position

ASC-Operating Room RN. This position is PRN.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process and effective written and verbal communications skills in the provision of safe, effective, high quality nursing services to patient populations. Assists physician in performance of procedures through implementation of the perioperative process.
• Assumes responsibility for intra-operative patient safety by acting as the nursing advocate for the patient; appropriate positioning, confirming the procedure and site, actively participating in the time out, informs surgeon, anesthesiologist and operating room team of any issues or concerns.
• Monitors sterile and aseptic techniques in all areas of the perioperative process. Performs all circulating duties with efficiency and speed. Performs scrub duties, as necessary. Assists in the set up and clean-up of the operating room, opening of sterile packs, instruments, and supplies.

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.
• Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Mandatory Reporter Certification, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support required.
• Two years nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting required, specialty specific.
• Ambulatory surgery experience is preferred.
