Job summary

SMX is seeking a Project & Revenue Accounting SME in Lansing, MI. You will serve as the expert for project and revenue accounting, ensuring accurate ASC 606 compliance and timely close, while partnering across Finance, Contracts, and Operations.

You will lead end-of-period activities, resolve complex revenue issues, and deliver analyses to support reporting and audits. Strong Costpoint and Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in project accounting and revenue recognition.
• Expert ASC 606 knowledge with GAAP/FAR in regulated environments.
• Experience supporting DCAA/DCMA audits.
• Proficient in Deltek Costpoint & Cognos.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
• Ability to analyze complex issues and collaborate across Finance, Contracts and Operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for project and revenue accounting.
• Ensure ASC 606 revenue recognition accuracy & timely close.
• Provide Costpoint troubleshooting and support.
• Collaborate with BU Finance Leads, Program Managers, Contracts, and Accounting.
• Lead month- and quarter-end close activities.
• Research complex unbilled & revenue issues with audit readiness.
• Develop financial analyses identifying trends, risks, and corrective actions.
• Interpret contracts and apply revenue methodologies across CPFF, CPAF, T&M, FFP and Commercial.
• Monitor revenue controls and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support audits (DCAA, DCMA, annual financial statements).
• Operate independently with strong judgment and accountability.
