EIS is seeking an Asbestos Worker to safely identify, remove, and dispose of hazardous materials during commercial demolition and renovation projects. The role requires ensuring safe demolition, proper containment, and adherence to hazardous waste guidelines on sites such as schools, hospitals, and government facilities.

Qualifications

• Must have asbestos abatement license and related certifications.
• Reliable transportation and valid authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to obtain clearances for access to sensitive government facilities.

Responsibilities

• Removes asbestos from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, and other structures following hazardous waste guidelines and safe demolition techniques.
• Assembles scaffolding and seals off the work area with plastic sheeting and duct tape.
• Positions mobile decontamination unit or portable showers at the work area entrance.
• Builds connecting walkway between the mobile unit or portable showers and the work area.
• Positions portable air evacuation and filtration system inside the work area.
• Sprays chemical solution over asbestos surfaces to soften it.
• Cuts and scrapes asbestos using knife and scraper.
• Shovels asbestos into disposal bags and seals bags.
• Cleans the work area of loose asbestos using vacuum, broom, and dustpan.
• Places asbestos in disposal bags and seals bags for transport.
• Dismantles scaffolding and places bags into transport bags.
• Seals bags and loads them into truck or dumpster.
• Follows directions of foremen, supervisors, and managers.
