Job summary

Stellar Consulting Solutions, LLC seeks an experienced iSeries developer to drive RPG-based projects on the IBM i platform. You will work on AS/400 DB2 databases, write complex SQL, and implement stored procedures, triggers, and UDFs.

Strong debugging with IBM ACS and RDi, plus OO design knowledge, is required. Familiarity with .NET, Java, HTML/XML, and WS-* standards is a plus. This is an onsite contract role in Monroe Township, NJ.

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on programming experience on iSeries using RPG in fixed and free format with embedded SQL, CLP, ILE, and DDS.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with AS400/DB2 (SQL Server or Oracle a plus).
• Deep understanding of relational database theory and operation.
• Advanced SQL knowledge including tuning and performance optimization.
• Experience in developing stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on programming on iSeries using RPG, embedded SQL, CLP, ILE, and DDS.
• Work with AS/400 DB2 and SQL Server or Oracle on related projects.
• Develop relational database solutions and optimize queries.
• Design and implement stored procedures, triggers, and UDFs.
• Leverage IBM ACS and RDi for development and debugging.
• Apply OO design principles and modern development practices.
• Collaborate with teams on .NET and Java platforms as needed.
• Work with HTML/XML and WS-* standards in web/SOA contexts.
• Utilize Visual Studio Code and Code for i extension.

Job description

Location: Monroe Township, NJ 08831 (5 days onsite)

Duration: 06 - 12 months contract

Job Responsibilities:

• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on programming experience on the iSeries using fixed and free format RPG, RPG with imbedded SQL, IBM Control Language Programming (CLP), ILE, and DDS.
• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience with Relational Database Management System (specifically AS400/DB2; Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle a plus)
• Candidate should have a deep understanding on the theory and workings of Relational Database systems
• Advanced knowledge of the SQL query language, including query tuning and performance optimization
• Experience in the development of stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions.
• Knowledge of logistics or fulfillment processes and techniques, warehouse management system software.
• Experience using IBM Access Client Solutions (ACS) and IBM Rational Developer for i (RDi) Software as development debugging tools.
• Experience in Object-Oriented Programming & Design concepts and methodologies.
• Experience in one of the following a plus:
• Microsoft.NET platform (Microsoft Visual Studio, C# programming language, .NET Framework Base Class Libraries and CLR), plus experience in two or more ancillary.NET technologies such as: ADO.NET, ASP.NET, WCF, WPF, Silverlight, Microsoft Enterprise Library, ADO.NET Entity Framework, or LINQ.)
• Java Development Platform 5.0 or later: J2SE required, J2EE a plus.
• Experience with web- and SOA-related technologies: HTML, XML, XML Schema, XPath, XQuery, WS-* standards (especially WSDL) a plus.
• Experience with Visual Studio Code (and Code for i extension) a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to clearly communicate and share solutions with fellow team members.
