Job summary

SFE is seeking an AS400 Engineer in Dallas, TX who will work onsite to support IBM i/AS400 environments. The role requires at least 5 years of AS/400 programming experience, with proficiency in RPG, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE and CL, plus DB2/SQL and ILE concepts.

The successful candidate will maintain WMS/AS400 systems, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and system capabilities. On-call duties are expected.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience programming on IBM i/AS400.
• Experience with RPG, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE and CL.
• Knowledge of relational database, including DB2/SQL.
• Expertise with ILE Concepts, service programs, commitment control, journaling, interactive & batch debugging.
• Experience in building and running queries against relational SQL databases.
• ERP/WMS experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance responsibilities such as production monitoring, file maintenance, and full management of the WMS/AS400.
• Conduct and present root cause analysis for repetitive issues or major issues.
• Understand core business processes and IT system capabilities.
• Collaborate with business teams and SMEs to improve operations and system capabilities.
• Promote code through development to production following IT policies.
• Gather requirements for new initiatives and carry the development lifecycle from DEV to QA to Production.
• Participate in on-call support.
