Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced IBM i/AS400 RPG Developer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in application development, maintenance, and production support.
• The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in RPG, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, CL, DB2/SQL, and IBM i development technologies.
• The role involves maintaining and enhancing ERP applications and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), troubleshooting technical issues, performing root cause analysis, and developing reliable solutions to support business operations.
• The candidate will collaborate with business stakeholders, functional SMEs, and technical teams to gather requirements, develop and execute test plans, manage code deployments across development, QA, and production environments, and recommend system enhancements.
• Experience with ILE concepts, service programs, commitment control, journaling, APIs, and ERP applications is highly desirable.
• The role also includes production monitoring, on-call support, and ensuring system stability, performance, and compliance with IT policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, enhance, and support IBM i/AS400 applications using RPG, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, and CL programming languages.
• Maintain and enhance existing RPG codebases supporting ERP and Warehouse Management System (WMS) applications.
• Develop, execute, and optimize DB2/SQL queries to support application functionality, reporting, and data analysis.
• Apply ILE concepts, service programs, commitment control, journaling, and other IBM i development practices.
• Perform interactive and batch debugging, troubleshoot application issues, and implement effective solutions.
• Monitor production applications, manage file maintenance activities, and ensure the availability and stability of AS400/WMS systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents and major production issues, document findings, and implement preventive measures.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, customer SMEs, functional teams, and technical leads to understand operational workflows and system requirements.
• Gather and analyze requirements for new initiatives, document technical specifications, and manage development activities throughout the complete SDLC.
• Prepare, present, validate, and execute test plans; perform unit, integration, regression, and production validation testing as applicable.
• Provide timely and professional testing progress reports, issue updates, and implementation status to internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage code promotions and deployments across development, QA, and production environments in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve business processes, system performance, operational efficiency, and application capabilities.
• Recommend and implement application enhancements based on business requirements, technical analysis, and production support experience.
• Support API integrations and collaborate with other application teams to improve system connectivity where required.
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely support for critical production incidents and business operations.
• Maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and application knowledge to ensure effective ongoing maintenance and knowledge transfer.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience programming on IBM i/AS400
• Experience with RPG, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE and CL.
• Knowledge of relational database, including DB2/SQL
• Expertise with ILE Concepts, service programs, commitment control, journaling, interactive & batch debugging.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving / troubleshooting skills
• Experience writing and running queries against relational SQL database(s)
• A demonstrated proficiency in business concepts of Warehouse Management System is a plus
• Knowledge in programming and working with APIs is a plus
• Experience in ERP application is preferred
• Participate in maintenance responsibilities, such as production monitoring, file maintenance and full management of the WMS/AS400.
• Conduct and present root cause analysis for repetitive issues or major issues.
• Understand core business, operational process flows, and related IT systems capabilities.
• Effective involvement in both Functional and Technical knowledge with Customer SMEs and Tech Leads.
• Maintain current RPG code base for the ERP.
• Build, present, confirm, and execute test plans; provide professional testing status updates to both internal and external customers.
• Promote code from development and production following IT policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with various business teams to improve efficiencies and speed of internal operations by improving process and/or system capabilities.
• Recommend process and system enhancements based on analysis, experience.
• Gather requirements for new initiatives, document and carry the development life cycle through from DEV QA Production
• Participate in on-call support.
