Job summary

The Walt Disney Company’s WABC station in New York is seeking a seasoned General Assignment Reporter for an as-needed, part-time role. You will report across broadcast, digital, and social platforms, pitching and producing original stories for multiple dayparts.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in a top market, strong reporting, writing, and live presentation skills, and the ability to develop sources under deadline. The pay rate is $405 per day, with select benefits included.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience reporting in a top 20 market.
• Demonstrated editorial judgment and journalistic integrity.
• Experience as a television news reporter, multimedia journalist, or in a comparable environment.
• Exceptional reporting, writing, interviewing, storytelling, and live presentation skills.
• Proven ability to develop sources and generate original story ideas.
• Strong understanding of digital, social, and streaming platforms.
• Ability to meet deadlines in breaking news situations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, pitch, research, and report original and enterprise stories.
• Report live from the field during breaking news and events.
• Build and maintain sources to generate exclusive reporting.
• Write and produce content across broadcast, digital, social, and streaming platforms.
• Collaborate with newsroom teams to deliver strong coverage.
• Represent the station professionally in the community.
