Job summary

The Walt Disney Company’s Eyewitness News division in New York seeks a digital content producer to create, edit, and publish material for digital, social, and connected TV platforms. You’ll work in a fast-paced newsroom to drive breaking coverage and engaging content that viewers will share.

You will manage abc7ny.com content, produce original videos, direct live coverage, optimize for reach, and coordinate social media to grow audience across platforms, leveraging SEO and analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, TV/Production or related field.

Disney Entertainment’s eight-owned ABC stations are multiplatform leaders in local news and information. WABC-TV has been the leader in local news in the New York City area for more than 60 years. Producing more than 45 hours of live, local news and weather each week, Channel 7 “Eyewitness News” is the most-watched local news in New York and the United States. Eyewitness News seeks an experienced digital content producer who can create, edit, and produce material for our digital, social, and connected TV platforms. This producer must thrive in a high-energy, non-stop news environment to help lead us on breaking news and to create compelling content that our users will want to share.

Some of the specific duties include managing breaking news and other content on abc7ny.com, creating original videos, directing live coverage, optimizing content for more reach and impact, and helping to manage our social media presence and engage our audience.

An As-Needed employee is hired to work on a daily basis with no requirement for a regular schedule.

What You Will Do

• Produce digital news stories with engaging and optimized headlines and copy

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in digital news and multiplatform production
• Must have a deep understanding of social strategy and SEO, with the desire to keep up with emerging platforms
• Must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Nonlinear editing experience
• Strong video production skills (such as Adobe Premiere)
• Proficient with AP style
• Must be willing to work mornings, evenings, and weekends

Required Education

• Bachelor’s Degree (related degree preferred in Journalism, TV/Production, etc.)

The pay rate for this role in New York is $40.00 to $50.00 per hour. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
