Veridian Tech Solutions, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an experienced AS400 iSeries Administrator to manage IBM i environments onsite.

You will monitor systems, manage jobs and queues, perform backups, DR exercises and upgrades, and coordinate with application, network, storage and security teams to maintain high availability. The role emphasizes RCA, problem resolution, ITSM process alignment (ServiceNow preferred), and thorough documentation to support ongoing operations and improvement

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in IBM i / AS400 system administration and production support.
• Knowledge of IBM i OS administration, system configuration, user profiles, security and authority management.
• Experience in system monitoring, job/subsystem management, job queues, output queues and scheduled/batch jobs.
• Backup, restore and recovery operations, with BRMS and disaster recovery understanding.
• IBM i OS/PTF maintenance, patching, upgrades and system health checks.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for system, job, performance, connectivity and availability issues.
• Storage/DASD management, ASP monitoring, spool management and capacity monitoring.
• TCP/IP, FTP/SFTP, interfaces, file transfers and network troubleshooting on IBM i.
• Incident, problem and change management processes in an enterprise production environment.
• Root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive actions for recurring issues.
• Familiarity with ITSM processes and tools such as ServiceNow is preferred.
• Good communication and documentation skills with the ability to coordinate with multiple teams.

Responsabilités

• Administer and provide day-to-day operational support for IBM i / AS400 environments, ensuring system availability, stability and performance.
• Monitor IBM i systems, subsystems, jobs, queues, system messages, storage utilization and overall system health.
• Handle incidents, service requests, problems and changes related to the AS400 environment in accordance with relevant processes.
• Perform user-profile administration, password resets, access/authority management and related tasks.
• Perform and support backup, restore, recovery and disaster-recovery activities, including DR exercises.
• Plan and execute IBM i OS/PTF upgrades, technology refreshes, maintenance activities and config changes.
• Troubleshoot system performance, batch/job failures, connectivity and file-transfer issues with teams.
• Perform capacity and performance monitoring and identify risks related to CPU, memory, storage/DASD and resources.
• Support scheduled production activities and respond to critical system issues and escalations.
• Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents, document findings and drive preventive actions.
• Maintain operational documents, SOPs, procedures, configuration details, knowledge articles and support docs.
• Participate in change reviews and service reporting, providing timely updates to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with application, network, storage, backup, security and other teams for end-to-end resolution.
• Identify opportunities for automation and operational improvement in AS400 administration and monitoring.

Job Description

Must Have Technical/Functional Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in IBM i / AS400 system administration and production support.

• Perform capacity and performance monitoring and identify risks related to CPU, memory, storage/DASD and system resources.
