Job summary

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking energetic Program Instructors to lead youth programs at our Philadelphia branches. You will deliver engaging, age-appropriate instruction that builds skills, confidence, and character in a safe environment.

The role emphasizes alignment with YMCA values, classroom safety, attendance tracking, and collaboration with families and staff. Flexible part-time hours, ongoing training, and opportunities to impact local youth are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years old.
• Experience participating in or instructing the applicable program area.
• Ability to safely lead participants in age-appropriate instruction and activities.
• Ability to maintain focus and supervise participants throughout program sessions.
• Current certifications required for the assigned program, or ability to obtain before instructing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver YMCA instructional programs in accordance with curriculum and quality standards.
• Teach and evaluate participant skill progression while encouraging confidence and growth.
• Foster an inclusive, safe learning environment.
• Reinforce YMCA values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility.
• Monitor participant safety and behavior throughout activities.
• Communicate progress and program updates with families as appropriate.
• Maintain attendance records and required program documentation.
• Ensure spaces are clean, organized, and ready for next activity.
• Participate in required staff meetings and trainings.

What is needed for this job as our Program Instructor:
