Job summary

Whole Foods Market in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Bakery Decorator to create and finish cakes, tarts and pastries, including custom orders. You will apply artistic decorating techniques, ensure quality, and provide exceptional service to customers.

This role requires 6–12 months in retail or food service, completion of the Bakery Decorator Apprentice program or equivalent experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6-12 months retail or restaurant experience.
• Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program, or equivalent experience.
• Prior experience within a professional bakery or grocery retail, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order bakery items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes following standard procedures to meet business demand and maintain records.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise and showcase products in displays; monitor freshness and rotation.
• Provide guidance for Apprentices and team members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Deliver excellent customer service and handle phones promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety; ensure proper signage and pricing.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned.
• Assist with other duties as required.
