Job summary

The DC Army National Guard is seeking an Artillery Mechanic to supervise and perform maintenance on self-propelled field artillery systems, including automotive, turret, and fire control subsystems. You will learn to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, test, and adjust damaged equipment while serving part-time with the Guard.

Training includes 10 weeks of Basic Training and 15 weeks of Advanced Individual Training; paid training, tuition assistance, and veteran benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Enlistment in the Army National Guard.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Maintain diesel power plants and engine/fuel systems, air induction, exhaust, cooling, starting and charging systems, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose malfunctions and perform unit maintenance on carriage-mounted armament and related systems.
