Job summary

Brooksource in Columbus, Ohio is seeking an entry-level software engineer to join our delivery teams. You will participate in Agile ceremonies, build and support AI-enabled applications, APIs, services, automations, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines, while learning enterprise architecture, security, governance, and risk management.

The ideal candidate has a completed Bachelor's degree, knowledge of Java, React, Python, RESTful APIs, and familiarity with PowerShell and Bash, plus strong

• Experience with Java, React, Python or similar languages.
• Experience working with RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with PowerShell and Bash.
• Understanding of Agile delivery and SDLC.
• Strong verbal and written communication; able to explain complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and integrate AI-enabled applications, APIs, services, and automation.
• Collaborate with business and technology partners to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in full solution lifecycle from development to production support.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in line with SDLC standards.
• Engage in Agile ceremonies and provide timely status updates.
• Continuously learn new technologies and enterprise architecture concepts.
• Understand security, governance, risk management, and compliance needs.
• Collaborate across teams and contribute to a culture of improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

This role is an entry level position requiring the individual be curious, driven, well-organized, and to possess strong learning abilities. They must be self-motivated, thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and complete tasks on agreed schedules. The team will look to this individual to participate in Agile team activities, build and support applications and automation, and contribute to CI/CD and operational processes while developing an understanding of enterprise architecture, security, governance, and risk management.

What You'll Do:

• Develop, test, and integrate AI-enabled applications/agents, APIs, services, automations, and supporting components using modern software engineering practices.
• Collaborate with business and technology partners to understand requirements and translate them into well-designed technical solutions and deliverables.
• Participate in the full solution lifecycle, from requirements and development through testing, deployment, operationalization, and production support.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines while following established Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards, engineering best practices, and quality controls.
• Actively participate in Agile delivery processes, including standups, planning sessions, retrospectives, and demonstrations, while providing clear and timely status updates.
• Demonstrate curiosity, learning agility, and a growth mindset by continuously exploring new technologies, understanding enterprise operating models, and improving technical skills.
• Develop an understanding of enterprise architecture, security, governance, risk management, and compliance requirements to ensure solutions are built and deployed responsibly.
• Collaborate effectively across teams, communicate clearly, and contribute positively to a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

• Completed Bachelor's Degree
• Experience with modern programming languages such as Java, React, Python, etc.
• Experience working with Restful APIs.
• Experience with PowerShell (basic) Bash.
• Good understanding of basic operating systems.
• Experience with or a good understanding of Agile delivery.
• Strong business and technology aptitude with a willingness to learn and understand business and software solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communications; ability to explain project risks and issues, and technical concepts clearly and concisely.
• High motivated with strong organizational, analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build strong partnerships and to work collaboratively with all business and IT areas.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• High level of professionalism and confidence with the ability to build credibility with team members and business partners.
