Job summary

One River School of Art + Design seeks a Contemporary Art Teacher for PreK–5 to lead dynamic weekly art classes and guide young creators through contemporary art concepts. The role emphasizes process, exploration, and joyful, meaningful engagement in the studio.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of teaching, a BFA/BS in Art Education (MFA a plus), and a warm, student-centered approach. Classes run weekday afternoons/evenings and on weekends in a studio setting.

Qualifications

• BFA or BS in Art Education required.
• MFA or Master’s in Art Education is a plus.
• At least 1 year of teaching experience with PreK–5.
• Ability to work across painting, drawing, sculpture, collage and 3D media.

Responsibilities

• Lead dynamic, hands-on weekly art classes for PreK–5 students.
• Explore contemporary approaches across painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, mixed media, and 3D work.
• Encourage experimentation, creative risk-taking, and big imaginative thinking.
• Create “WOW moments” that build confidence and artistic voice.
• Connect thoughtfully with families about student growth and creative breakthroughs.

What You’ll Do

• Lead dynamic, hands-on weekly art classes for PreK–5 students - Classes run in the Weekday afternoons and evenings and on Saturdays and Sundays
• Explore contemporary approaches across painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, mixed media, and 3D work
• Encourage experimentation, creative risk-taking, and big imaginative thinking
• Create “WOW moments” that build confidence and artistic voice
• Connect thoughtfully with families about student growth and creative breakthroughs
