Job summary

AMPed Education in Troy, Michigan, is looking for enthusiastic instructors to teach art classes to children aged 5-13. Candidates will plan and deliver engaging lessons in both online and in-person settings. This role requires creativity and experience with children, with an emphasis on preparation and age-appropriate activities.

Job Description

Plan and teach small group art classes both online and in person to students from ages 5‑13 covering various mediums. Classes include: Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle School, and Homeschool.

In‑Person

• Plan and teach 45‑minute sessions to groups of up to 8 students with the help of a teacher's assistant at our Troy location.
• Planning consists of: creating and submitting basic lesson plans and supply lists to the Education Director for approval monthly so that materials can be obtained before each session.
• Start Date: Mid July 2023
• Hours: 3‑4 hours per week to start with more classes added over time. During the summer, most classes will be daytime/weekday. Starting in the fall, evening and weekend classes will be added.

Virtual

• Plan and teach 45‑minute sessions to groups of up to 4 students via Zoom.
• Planning consists of: creating and submitting basic lesson plans and supply lists to the Education Director for approval monthly so that materials can be obtained before each session.
• Hours: 2‑3 hours per week to start with more classes added over time. During the summer, most classes will be daytime/weekday. Starting in the fall, evening and weekend classes will be added.

Preference is given to applicants that can teach both in person and virtually but consideration will be given to qualified applicants that would prefer one or the other.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience working with children
• Comfort using and interacting with children via Zoom
• Formal or informal art training
• Well organized and adept at planning age‑appropriate activities for children ages 5‑13.

Preferred Qualifications

• Elementary Education student or degree
