Job summary

City of Farmington Hills is seeking an Arts Studio Assistant to help prepare classes and camps, support Cultural Arts teachers and students in 2D and 3D studios, and keep studios organized and safe.

You will assist with inventory, coordinate the ceramics kiln firing schedule, supervise Open Studio Hours, answer questions from participants, and perform basic studio maintenance. This role requires physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs, in a community arts setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to assist staff and students in art studios (2D/3D).
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow safety and maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Art Studio Manager with preparation of arts classes and camps.
• Support Cultural Arts teachers and students in 2D and 3D studios.
• Maintain classroom inventories and supervise Open Studio Hours.

Assist Manager with maintaining classroom(s) inventory. Assist Manager with the facilitation of the ceramics kiln firing schedule and provide basic in-studio maintenance as needed. Ensure proper use of equipment and supplies by staff and students. Maintain clean and orderly studio space. Be present for and supervise Open Studio Hours as assigned. Answer questions for students, teachers, staff, and tours. Physical activity required with the ability to frequently lift approximately 50 lbs. Other duties as assigned.
