Job summary

Chapman University is seeking a Lab Tech Assistant to support the Art Studio Manager and faculty within Wilkinson College. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, organized Lab environment across Sculpture, Drawing, Painting, Photo, Fiber, and Check-Out areas.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented, able to work independently or with a team, and proactively assist with department tasks and guest support.

Qualifications

• Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and daily procedures.
• On time and dependable for scheduled shifts; attend to absences per policy.
• Available during evenings and weekends; lead by example with safety.
• Ability to work under light supervision and follow duties from list.
• Learn and adhere to proper tool usage and Lab Policy and Procedure.
• Experience in one or more Art Labs (Wood/Digi/Fiber/Drawing/Painting) is a plus.
• Ability to take initiative on projects and work well under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean and organized labs (Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Fiber, Digi Lab).
• Complete opening and closing checklists for each Lab every shift.
• Monitor and support Art Department faculty and students; ensure proper tool usage.
• Attend Lab Assistant trainings and assist with department workshops.
