Job summary

Qualifications

Job Summary

We are seeking a creative Art Designer for a direct hire opportunity supporting an Art Department focused on original artwork, typography, illustration, and imagery for home décor and wall art products. This role is ideal for an artist or designer with a strong fine art foundation, advanced digital design skills, and a portfolio that demonstrates originality, versatility, and strong visual execution.

The Art Designer will work closely with the Art Director to develop artwork across multiple styles, prepare designs for commercial production, and contribute to products that are used in consumer home décor settings. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented creative professional who enjoys combining traditional art techniques with digital design tools in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Create original artwork and designs based on creative direction, product requirements, and trend inspiration.
• Develop artwork in a variety of styles, including illustrative, painterly, fine art, typography, and surface design.
• Translate traditional artwork, paintings, and hand-created concepts into digital production-ready formats.
• Perform photo retouching, recoloring, color correction, resizing, and image preparation.
• Prepare artwork for commercial production while maintaining accuracy, quality, and brand consistency.
• Collaborate with the Art Director while managing multiple creative projects, deadlines, and revisions.

Compensation and Benefits

• Contract-to-hire opportunity.
• Pay range: $27 to $32 per hour.
• Location: Maywood, CA.
• Must be able to reliably commute to the Vernon, CA office 8-5pm; Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Create original artwork, typography, illustrations, and surface designs for home décor and wall art products.
• Prepare digital artwork files for production, including resizing, recoloring, retouching, and color correction.
• Adapt artwork across multiple creative styles based on Art Director feedback and product needs.
• Support physical product samples with occasional hand-painted embellishments.
• Strong portfolio required showcasing original artwork, including drawing, painting, fine art, illustration, typography, and/or surface design.
• 2+ years of professional experience as an Artist, Illustrator, Designer, Art Designer, or in a related creative role.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
• Strong digital art and illustration skills.
• Excellent understanding of composition, color, layout, and visual hierarchy.
• Experience with color correction, recoloring, and RGB/CMYK file preparation.
• Experience with acrylic painting and color mixing/matching.
• Ability to interpret creative direction and adapt to different artistic styles.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and time management skills.
• Portfolio or website showcasing work is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in home décor, consumer products, wall art, or surface design.
• Familiarity with Pantone color systems.
• Experience preparing artwork for commercial production environments.
