Job summary

U.S. Army General Surgeons lead the way of a world-class military health care team. As a General Surgeon, you will examine, diagnose, consult, and prescribe treatments, and perform surgeries for Soldiers, retirees and their family members, contributing to advances from regenerative medicine to pre-/post-op planning.

Qualifications

• Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy.
• Must be eligible for board certification.
• Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship.
• Must have completed a training program in general surgery.

Responsibilities

• Examine patients and diagnose conditions.
• Consult with colleagues to determine treatment plans.
• Prescribe courses of treatment and medications.
• Perform surgeries for Soldiers, retirees and their family members.
• Engage in continued education, training, seminars and conferences to learn and collaborate with fellow general surgeons.
