Job summary

U.S. Army General Surgeons lead a world-class military health care team, delivering patient care and performing a broad range of surgical procedures for Soldiers, retirees and their families.

Active Duty or Army Reserve paths offer leadership in medicine, ongoing education and access to advanced training, with a strong benefits package and opportunities to grow within the Army Medical Department.

Qualifications

• Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school
• Must have a current license to practice medicine in the United States
• Must be eligible for board certification
• Must be a U.S. citizen to serve on Active Duty
• Must have a permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve
• Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, consult, and prescribe courses of treatment
• Perform surgeries for Soldiers, retirees and their family members
• Participate in continued education programs, trainings, seminars and conferences to learn, grow and collaborate with fellow general surgeons
