Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe is seeking an ARMHS Mental Health Practitioner to support adults with mental health disabilities. You will conduct in-home assessments, develop case plans, and coordinate services with social service agencies to promote healthy living and community integration.
Role requires knowledge of Native American culture, strong communication, and ability to work with referrals and transportation support for client appointments.
License/Certification Requirements: Valid MN Driver's License, current insurance, or be insurable.
Summary: The ARMHS Mental Health Practitioner is responsible for instructing, assisting, and supporting adults with mental health disabilities in areas such as basic living and social skills, symptom management, employment, and transitioning to community living.
Education Requirements and Experience:
BA/BS with 2000 hours of supervised experience.
High School graduate with 6000 hours of such experience.
Graduate Student enrolled in behavioral sciences or related field.
Master’s/doctorate in: behavioral sciences or related field.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Knowledge of: the Minnesota Indian Culture and Traditions.
Good oral and written communication skills and customer service skills.
Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and criminal and social background check.
Native American preference.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Become familiar with the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Human Services programs and social service agencies in surrounding counties.
Upon receiving referral, provide an In-Home Assessment focusing on client’s strengths and needs.
Develop a case plan based on the Assessment.
Work with clients to follow through with the case plan in order to sustain a structure for healthy living.
Develop and facilitate client support and skills-building sessions.
Provide transportation and support for client to attend appointments related to symptom management.
Collaborate with other programs to facilitate activities for the purpose of strengthening social skills and community integration.
Identify resources and advocate for client to receive services from other agencies when appropriate.
Maintain client records.
Maintain a respectful working relationship with Leech Lake Reservation programs and other area agencies.
Meet deadlines and prioritize workload.
Work effectively with minimal supervision.
Attend program activities outside normal working hours as necessary.
Support and maintain sensitivity to Native American culture, lifestyles and values.
Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
Adhere to all applicable data privacy laws.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Travel in and out of the state on a possibly regular basis.
Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture.
Adhere to policies governing staff conduct.
All other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 30 pounds or more and use proper body mechanics.
Be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
