Allstate Security in Oakland is seeking an Armed/Unarmed Security Officer to protect client sites across the Oakland area. This full-time role blends armed and unarmed assignments at one location, with shifts clearly defined for each schedule.

You’ll monitor access, patrol interiors and exteriors, report incidents, and coordinate with emergency responders when needed. The position requires a BSIS Guard Card, California firearm permit, and the ability to stay calm and professional under pressure.

Qualifications

• Age 21 or older.
• Valid BSIS Guard Card and California Firearm Permit.
• Own firearm and duty belt for armed shifts.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong observation, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and communicate professionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide an armed or unarmed security presence according to your assigned shift.
• Monitor access, verify authorization, and patrol interior and exterior areas.
• Observe and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, theft, trespassing, and other incidents.
• Monitor cameras, alarms, and access-control systems as assigned.
• Respond calmly to emergencies, follow site procedures, and contact law enforcement or emergency medical services when necessary.
• Prepare accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, and shift handoff notes.
• Perform ID verification, bag checks, or screening as required by site policy.
• Escort staff during cash handling, deliveries, and closing activities as assigned.

Pay, Location & Schedule

• Full-time hybrid armed/unarmed position
• Harborside Oakland — 1840 Embarcadero, Oakland
• Armed: Saturday and Tuesday, 0600–1400 — $26/hour
• Unarmed: Friday and Sunday, 0600–1400; Monday, 1400–2200 — $23/hour

What You’ll Bring — Required

Preferred Experience

• One or more years of security experience in retail, high-risk environments, or cannabis facilities.
• Additional training or military/law enforcement experience.
• De‑escalation skills, familiarity with cannabis industry regulations, and experience with surveillance or access-control systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to operate radios and assigned security equipment.
• Visual and auditory awareness to monitor your surroundings.
• Ability to stand for an eight-hour shift.

• Maintain a professional appearance, exercise sound judgment, and follow company policies and site procedures.
• Treat customers, visitors, and staff with courtesy, discretion, and respect.
• Maintain awareness around high‑value inventory and cash handling, and follow applicable site and state cannabis requirements.
