Job summary

Allied Universal® in Houston is seeking an Armed Security Officer for a part-time shift at a retail location. You will monitor the site, deter incidents, provide customer service, and follow policies while maintaining a visible security presence.

The role requires a valid Texas Level III Armed Certification, a driver’s license, and 3+ years of security or related experience. You will prepare detailed reports and coordinate with responders as needed.

Qualifications

• Possess at least 3 years of combined law enforcement, corrections, or military experience, or at least 5 years of armed security-related experience.
• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Possess a Level III Armed Certification in Texas.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, shoppers, and store personnel while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and coordinating with site leadership and/or emergency responders as needed.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout retail sales areas, parking lots, loading areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points, observe customer and employee activity, and report suspicious behavior, hazards, policy violations, and other security-related incidents in accordance with site procedures.
• Complete detailed incident reports, daily activity logs, and required documentation while maintaining a professional presence in a retail environment.
