Qualifications

• General law enforcement certification required or equivalent.
• Basic Law Enforcement Training completed.
• Degree or study in Criminal Justice preferred.
• 2 years of law enforcement/public safety experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and respond calmly in stressful situations.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local criminal statutes and case law.

Responsibilities

• Intervenes when unruly, abusive, combative, threatening, or armed persons are encountered.
• Apprehend and arrest individuals for criminal activity.
• Complete investigations within assigned jurisdiction; make arrests and process defendants.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls; complete reports.
• Assist teammates and serve as subject matter expert in criminal process.
• Communicate calmly and effectively; coordinate with community police agencies.
