Tampa Electric Company in Brandon, FL, seeks a Security Officer to safeguard critical energy infrastructure. The armed role includes patrols, monitoring CCTV, and rapid incident response to protect personnel and assets at power plants, substations, and transmission hubs.

Requirements include a Florida Class G license, 4 years of security/military experience, and firearms proficiency. CPR/First Aid/AED and FEMA IC‑S/NIMS training are preferred; a high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4 years of experience in law enforcement, military, or the security industry.
• Valid Florida Class G license and firearms proficiency or training.
• CPR/First Aid/AED and FEMA IC‑S/NIMS training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and surveillance of facility perimeter, access points, and interior zones; monitor CCTV and report suspicious activity; inspect fences, gates, and lighting for tampering or damage.
• Maintain detailed logs of patrols and incidents; complete incident reports and shift handover documentation; notify of hazards or breaches.
• Verify credentials of personnel, contractors, and visitors; enforce site access procedures; maintain visitor logs.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies per protocols; provide armed response; coordinate with police and emergency services.
