Job summary

KCKPD is seeking a Security Officer, Armed to protect Unified Government buildings, staff and the public in Kansas City, KS. You will screen entrants, monitor detectors, and patrol facilities, reporting professionally and testifying when required.

This role requires handling of firearms and taser if needed, availability for non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays, and completion of required security and weapon qualifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent education/experience.
• Must pass basic security course and semi-annual weapons qualifications.
• Course involves handcuffing, responding to active threats and defensive tactics.
• Must qualify with Taser and pass OC qualification.
• Valid driver's license required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Provide security for Unified Government buildings, employees and citizens.
• Check people entering facilities and monitor metal detectors.
• Patrol buildings and construct professional reports; testify in court as needed.
• Utilize equipment including fire alarms, computers, panic alarms and elevators.
• Able to use firearms and taser if necessary.
