Job summary

Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS is seeking a security officer to guard government buildings, monitor entry points, and patrol properties. You will check IDs, operate metal detectors, and respond to threats with vigilance.

Applicants must pass post-offer background checks, a physical exam, and weapon qualifications (Taser and OC). A valid driver's license is required; weekend/holiday shifts are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 21 years of age.
• Must pass basic security course and weapons qualifications.
• Must qualify with Taser and pass OC qualification.
• Valid driver’s license required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Provide security to Unified Government buildings, employees and citizens.
• Check people entering facilities and monitor metal detectors.
• Patrol buildings and surrounding properties.
• Construct professional reports and testify in court when needed.
• Operate alarms, computers, and panic devices; may use firearms/TASER if necessary.
• Work non-traditional hours including weekends/holidays.
