BSG is currently seeking qualified Armed Security Officers for a prestigious private University in Oakland. Applicants with Law Enforcement, Military, or a Graduate of a US Based Law Enforcement Training Academy experience will be prioritized.

The role of the Armed Security Officer will be high visibility, deterrence, patrols, safety escorts, building checks, community engagement, and dispatch/gate support as needed. The Security team is cross trained to monitor all security, communications and fire/life safety systems, and is the liaison between campus personnel, students, law enforcement and BSG management. This team is staffed twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week. The team is directly responsible for the accurate documentation of routine and unusual events occurring on or near the facilities. The Armed Security Officers must maintain an expert level of knowledge of the campus rules and always provide professional interactions that promote safety and instill confidence to the faculty, staff, students and visitors to the property.

Shift and Compensation

• Shift: Full Time Grave (Thursday - Monday).
• Hourly Rate: $36.00 per hour.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Possess a current California Guard Card License.
• Must have had an armed permit for at least 5 years OR have previous Law Enforcement, Military or Post Academy experience.
• A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record for 3 years is required.
• Reliable transportation is necessary.
• Proficient in basic computer and smartphone usage.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to create accurate reports; additional language skills are a plus.
• Strong listening skills, patience, and compassion, particularly when interacting with community members experiencing emotional or psychological challenges.
• Ability to remain calm in crisis situations, think critically, de-escalate conflicts, and communicate effectively.
• Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in adherence to all laws, regulations, company policies, and confidentiality standards.
• Ensure compliance with both company and client policies and procedures while being open to performance improvement.
• Possess a clear understanding of emergency response procedures and protocols.
• At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, or event staff roles.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Successfully pass a background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements

• Stand, Walk or Sit for Extended Periods: Ability to sit while driving a vehicle, stand or walk for long periods, often for several hours at a time, including traversing outdoor areas with uneven surfaces, without significant physical strain.
• Climb Stairs: Regularly climb stairs and navigate multi-level buildings to perform patrols and check all areas.
• Lift and Carry: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to move or secure equipment, and assist with other duties as necessary.
• Physical Endurance: Ability to withstand various weather conditions during outdoor patrols, including hot, cold, rainy, or windy weather.
• Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and operate security equipment, such as radios, keys, and locks.
• Run or Move Quickly: Ability to sprint short distances if needed to respond quickly to emergencies or incidents.

• Kneeling and Bending: Ability to kneel, crouch, and bend to check low-level areas, secure entrances, or assist in emergencies.

• Keep accurate and detailed activity logs, documenting all patrols, incidents, and observations during the shift.
• Prepare comprehensive reports for any incidents ensuring records are clear and precise for review.
