Job summary

Dallas ISD is seeking an Armed Security Officer for the 2026-2027 school year to maintain a safe campus environment for students and staff. The role requires a Texas Peace Officer license (TCOLE) and the ability to patrol both interior and exterior campus areas while engaging with students and district personnel.

Preferred bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates and individuals who can pass background, psychological, medical, and drug screenings.

Qualifications

• Required accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency).
• Required Valid Texas Peace Officer License issued by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCOLE).
• Preferred honorably retired as a Texas peace officer within the preceding two (2) years.
• Willing to undergo a criminal background check, psychological exam, medical exam, and drug screening.
• Demonstrate firearm proficiency by passing the Dallas ISD pistol qualification course.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and security to the campus environment for students, staff and visitors.
• Serve as a deterrent to unsafe behaviors and patrol interior and exterior areas.
• Assist in restraining, apprehending, and escorting disruptive individuals as needed.
• Report incidents immediately to the supervisor and adhere to district policies.

Dallas ISD is currently offering a $2,000 hiring incentive to new Armed Security Officers for the 2024-2025 school year!**

**Pending Board Approval

• The Armed Security Officer will strive to provide a safe and secure campus environment for students, staff, and visitors. This uniformed position will serve as a deterrent to unsafe behaviors.
• Provide prevention and detection of criminal activity and safety hazards
• Provide overall assistance to the school campus community
• Assist in restraining, apprehending, and escorting disruptive or arrested individuals
• Patrol all exterior and interior areas of the campus while ensuring direct interaction with students and district personnel within the assigned jurisdiction
• Resolve conflict or confrontation between students, district personnel, visitors, or other persons on the assigned campus
• Report all incidents or criminal activity immediately to the supervisor
• Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Board of Trustees, the district, and the Police and Security Department.
• Adhere to existing district and department grooming standards and dress policies at all times for uniformed personnel
• Attend all scheduled meetings as required by the supervisor

• Able to maintain the confidentiality of information
• Training and ability to subdue offenders, including the use of firearms and handcuffs
• Organizational, prioritization, communication, and interpersonal skills are required to achieve the goals of the position
• Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress
