DRH Health is seeking an Armed Security Officer to protect personnel and property within the hospital system. You will patrol premises, respond to emergencies, and assist with confrontations while maintaining professional communication with staff and the public.
The role requires handgun and taser proficiency, driver license, and adherence to safety policies. Flexible scheduling, including nights and weekends, is common in this safety-sensitive position.
The Armed Security Officer protects personnel and property within the DRH Health system and seeks to prevent criminal and destructive activity and correct hazards and unsafe conditions. Must have the ability to interact appropriately with all team members (including administrative and physician/providers), patients, and visitors under difficult circumstances. Assists DRH team members with combative patients or visitors.
Must meet state requirements for owning/carrying firearm. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must successfully pass drug screen and criminal background check. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner. Ability to handle urgent and crisis situations calmly, effectively, and efficiently. Strong customer service and investigative and conflict resolution skills. Ability to think on your feet in a wide range of situations. Must show proficiency with safe gun handling skills and pass handgun qualification tests.
Ability to effectively follow applicable regulations, policies, and/or procedures. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
High school diploma or equivalent required. At least 3 years of previous law enforcement, honorable military service, or armed security experience preferred. Previous healthcare security experience preferred. Must be proficient with the use of telephone, e-mail, radio, cell phone, computer, and computer software (ex. Word, Excel) in order to generate electronic daily activity security reports, incident reports, emails, and other applicable correspondence during the performance of duties.
Must be a CLEET Certified Armed Security Officer or have completed requirements and applied to obtain certification within 180 days of hire/transfer. Must successfully complete CPI, MMPI, and taser within 180 days of hire or transfer. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required; may have up to 30 days from hire/transfer to attain. Must maintain a current valid Oklahoma driver's license and automobile liability insurance.

This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.
As a condition of employment, vaccinations are required per DRH Policy. Medical and Religious Exemptions are available upon request.
