Job summary

BROWARD COUNTY SCHOOLS POLICE in Sunrise, FL is seeking a security professional to provide safety services for school campuses, protecting students, staff and visitors. This temporary, nonexempt role pays an hourly rate of $18.14.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Florida driver’s license, and prior sworn law enforcement or armed security experience (or a military background). Strong oral/written communication and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years within the last ten years as sworn law enforcement officer or armed security guard with Florida license, or corrections officer in good standing.
• Two years of prior military experience may substitute for law enforcement experience.
• Valid Florida driver’s license required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate facts.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must complete firearm safety training, psychology evaluation, drug tests, and diversity training prior to appointment.
