Cardinal Point Security Group in Mount Prospect, IL seeks an Armed School Security Officer to help maintain a safe learning environment by monitoring entrances, patrolling corridors, and responding to incidents.

The role requires five years of armed security experience, school setting experience, firearms qualification, and PA certifications; the officer will be on-site with a Monday–Friday schedule and may work after-hours or events as needed.

Qualifications

• Five years of armed security officer experience.
• Three years of security officer experience in a school setting.
• Valid PA Act 235 Certification.
• Valid PA Concealed Carry Permit.
• Must possess your own firearm.
• Must be able to pass firearms qualification course.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Consent to drug screen and criminal background investigation.
• Consent to obtain required clearances for working in a school.
• No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude.
• Reliable means of communication (cell phone and email).
• Ability to comprehend and utilize English (verbal and written).
• Reliable transportation.
• Professional and courteous demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Be a Cardinal Point Ambassador: be on time, look sharp in uniform, stay engaged.
• Coach and mentor students.
• Manage incidents and de-escalate when needed.
• Maintain orderly foot traffic flow in hallways.
• Monitor restrooms.
• Report maintenance concerns.
• Patrol facilities up to 10,000 steps daily to deter unauthorised access and vandalism.
• Stand for up to four hours daily.
• Act as first responder for emergencies.
• Stand posts at secondary locations as required.
• Identify and report suspicious activity.
• Foster positive relationships with staff and students.
• Access control and CCTV monitoring.
