Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Public Safety Officer I - Armed at Illinois Masonic Medical Center to provide professional security services on a rotating overnight schedule.

The role requires IL armed certification, willingness to carry a firearm, and the ability to respond to emergencies, de-escalate conflicts, and coordinate with law enforcement. The position offers full-time hours and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• State of IL armed course with semi-automatic endorsement (40-hour)
• Willingness to carry a department-authorized firearm on duty
• Passed background, drug screen, and pre-placement physicals; occasional fitness/psych screening
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to de-escalate situations
• Experience responding to emergent situations in security/public safety settings

Responsibilities

• Provide security services professionally and compassionately while enforcing policies and procedures.
• Conduct interior/exterior patrols, identify hazards, manage valuables, and control traffic on premises.
• Respond to and investigate incidents; de-escalate threats and coordinate with law enforcement.
• Plan and respond to emergencies (fire, infant abduction, active threats) and document actions.
• Complete reports and liaise with leadership; provide security education to staff.
