Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Public Safety professional for full-time duty in Winston-Salem, NC. The role includes intervening with unruly or armed individuals, making arrests, and investigating criminal activity within the jurisdiction.

Responsibilities cover responding to calls, preparing cases for court, and testifying as needed. A Basic Law Enforcement Training and General Law Enforcement Certification are required, with a 2-year preferred experience.

Qualifications

• License/Registration/Certification: General Law Enforcement Certification.
• Issued by the state CJ Education and Training Standards (or ability to transfer laterally).
• Level of Education: Basic Law Enforcement Training.
• Field of Study: Criminal Justice.
• Years of Experience: 2 (preferred).
• Describe Type Experience: General law enforcement or public safety experience (preferred).
• Ability to work independently and respond calmly in complex, stressful situations.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local criminal statutes and case law.
• Knowledge of criminal process.
• Demonstrate proficiency with a firearm to meet Advocate Health and applicable state standards.
• Ability to obtain and maintain applicable state General Law Enforcement Certification.
• Ability to perform under stressful, emergency conditions.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Ability to pass rigorous background check, polygraph and/or psychological testing.
• Ability to pass Advocate Health mandated Taser, CPI, and self-defense training.

Responsibilities

• Intervenes when unruly, abusive, combative, threatening, or armed persons are encountered.
• Apprehend and arrest individuals for criminal activity.
• Complete investigations of any criminal activity within assigned jurisdiction, make arrests, and process defendants.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls for assistance. Complete incident reports and other documentation.
• Assist teammates and serve as subject matter expert in criminal process.
• Communicate calmly and coordinate with community police agencies as appropriate.
• Provide armed response to threats on Advocate Health property.
• Prepare criminal cases for court proceedings, attend court, and testify.
