We are accepting applications for Full-time and Part-time Armed Protective Service Officers (PSO) in Washington, D.C. This essential role requires professionalism and a strong commitment to protecting our sites, staff, and clients.
Job Responsibilities
- Protect principals against threats
- Manage access control at federal buildings, including ID checks and security equipment monitoring
- Conduct roving patrols of federal property interiors and exteriors
- Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities
- Prepare detailed reports on daily activities and incidents
- Operate magnetometers and X-ray machines effectively
- Use communication devices like two-way radios clearly and effectively
- Respond to emergencies using listening and service skills
- Perform CPR or first aid as needed
- Maintain credentials as per contract requirements
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old
- U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident with honorable discharge from U.S. Armed Forces
- Valid Social Security Card
- At least 2 years of armed security experience or 1 year law enforcement experience
- Honorable discharge from U.S. Armed Forces (minimum 2 years)
- Fluent in English, with ability to write reports
- Qualify with revolver or semi-automatic firearm
- Strong security industry knowledge
- Excellent communication skills
- Customer service mindset
- Effective communication skills for all levels
Physical Demands
- Perform tasks requiring physical ability
- Prolonged walking, standing, sitting, stooping (up to 12 hours)
- Interact with the public, law enforcement, and dispatch calmly and clearly
- Remain on post for extended periods without breaks
- Stay alert and respond quickly to emergencies
- Subdue violent individuals and intervene in crises
- Occasional running, lifting, and climbing
Education & Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- MD Security Guard Certification (Unarmed & Armed)
- DHS Suitability
- CPR/American Red Cross Certification
- National Weapons Detection Training Program
- Other relevant training and qualifications listed
