We are currently accepting applications for a Full-time Hourly Exempt Armed Protective Service Captain position in Huntsville, Alabama. This is an Essential position. BTI Security seeks high-caliber security officers who demonstrate professionalism and a strong commitment to protecting our sites, staff, and clients.
Job Skills / Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Protect the principal against possible threats.
- Manage federal building access control, conduct employee and visitor identification checks, monitor security equipment, and perform roving patrols of federal property interior and exterior.
- Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities.
- Provide detailed reports on daily activities and incidents.
- Effectively operate magnetometer and X-ray machines.
- Use communication devices such as two-way radios clearly and effectively.
- Leverage excellent listening and service skills during emergency response and evaluation procedures.
- Perform CPR or first aid when necessary.
- Maintain credentials as per contract requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Project Manager.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Be a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident with a verifiable honorable discharge from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
- Possess a Social Security Card issued by the SSA with your name and SSN.
- Have at least two (2) years of armed security experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a police department.
- Have at least two (2) years of honorable service in the U.S. Armed Forces.
- Fluency in English, with the ability to read, write, and comprehend effectively, including report writing.
- Ability to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic firearm.
- Strong relevant knowledge of the security industry.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Customer service-oriented mindset.
- Effective communication skills for all levels of internal and external customers.
Physical Demands
- Capable of performing physical tasks required by the role.
- Frequent walking, standing, sitting, and stooping for up to 12 hours daily, indoors or outdoors.
- Ability to communicate clearly and remain calm during stressful situations.
- Able to stay on post up to four hours without breaks.
- Remain alert for up to 12 hours, reacting quickly to unexpected situations.
- Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals and intervene in crises.
- Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy objects, and climbing stairs.
Certification Requirements
- Any of the following: O.C. aerosol spray, MEB Expandable Baton, DHS Letter of Suitability, Weapon Training, Basic Training (72/64 hours), NWDTP Training, Firearms Qualification, FPS Orientation Certificate.
