BTI Security is accepting applications for a Full-time Hourly Exempt Armed Protective Service Captain in Huntsville, Alabama. This is an Essential position. We seek highly professional security officers dedicated to protecting our sites, staff, and clients.
Job Skills / Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Protect the principal against threats
- Control access to federal buildings, perform employee and visitor ID checks, monitor security equipment, patrol interior and exterior of federal property
- Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities
- Prepare detailed reports on daily activities and incidents
- Operate magnetometers and X-ray machines effectively
- Use communication devices like two-way radios clearly and concisely
- Apply excellent listening and service skills during emergency responses
- Perform CPR or first aid as needed
- Maintain credentials per contract requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or project manager
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old
- U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident with honorable discharge from U.S. Armed Forces
- Valid Social Security Card
- At least 2 years of armed security experience or 1 year of law enforcement experience
- Honorable discharge from at least 2 years of service in the U.S. Armed Forces
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Ability to qualify with revolver or semi-automatic firearm
- Strong knowledge of security industry standards
- Excellent communication skills
- Customer service-oriented mindset
- Effective communication skills for all levels
Physical Demands
- Physically capable of performing security duties
- Prolonged walking, standing, sitting, stooping (up to 12 hours)
- Clear speech and calmness required during interactions
- Ability to stay alert for extended periods (up to 12 hours)
- Ability to subdue or intervene in crises involving violent individuals
- Occasional running, lifting, climbing stairs
Certification Requirements
- MEB Expandable Baton
- DHS Letter of Suitability
- Initial Weapons Training
- Basic Training (72/64 hours)
- NWDTP Training
- Firearms Qualification
- FPS Orientation Certificate
- O.C. aerosol spray
Additional Information / Benefits
