Corewell Health in Troy, MI, is hiring a Full-time Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role requires armed duties per PA 330 certification and collaboration with law enforcement as needed.

Responsibilities include patrols, incident investigations, reports, and assisting in emergency procedures while upholding hospital policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years law-enforcement related work experience as a police officer; hospital security, corporate security, reserve police officer or military police.
• Ability to take charge and direct others in emergencies or other dangerous incidents.
• Carry Pistol License (CPL) license and successful completion of Taser Training Course.
• Driver's License – State MI at hire.
• BLS – AHA 90 days.
• AED – 90 days.
• First Aid – AHA 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus on foot and in vehicle; assist guests and staff; monitor for security violations.
• Enforce hospital rules and policies; provide safety and security.
• Support Security Operations Center with monitoring phones, alarms, cameras, and radio.
• Prepare daily safety and security reports for management.
• Investigate suspected crimes on campus and co-operate with law enforcement.
• Provide security escorts to employees, visitors, or patients as needed.
• Respond to inquiries and prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas.
• Use non-violent verbal de-escalation to defuse volatile situations.
• Assist nursing staff with patient restraint as ordered by a physician.
• Possess and use weapons per Corewell Health policy when required.
• Provide CPR/first aid during emergencies until medical staff arrive.
• Report fire/safety hazards and assist with drills.
• Release patient remains to appropriate agencies or funeral homes.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Carry Pistol License (CPL)

Taser Training Course

State of Michigan Driver's License

BLS (Basic Life Support)

AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

First Aid

Police Academy (preferred)
